Here is a sample video I did using my Sony HD prosumer camera (big bucks) and using your recommendation- the Canon Powershot SD780 (awesome camera and under $200). I also just got the Lumix G1 - a bit bigger than this Sony, but interchangeable four thirds lenses.  An awesome camera.  The newer model has HD video too.
