WVU #40 – How To Quickly and Easily Create Cartoon Videos
One of the most overlooked web video formats is cartoons. Sure, they may not be ideal to project a professional image, but there may be times when you want to try a different marketing approach or lighten up the mood for heavy technical training. And cartoons can be perfect for that.
The problem is, you usually have to be a professional animator or Flash authoring expert to create cartoons from scratch.
Enter GoAnimate, a web site that lets anyone create custom cartoons with just a few clicks. And it’s free. I demonstrate how to use it in this video.
To visit GoAnimate and try it out for yourself, just click here.

This looks like fun and I can see how it will add interest to a normally boring video. Maybe short clips can be sliced in and out of videos.. Fun Resource.
Dave,
This looks awesome, what a wonderful product.
It has given me some ideas to start my entry into video without getting my own face in the ‘picture’.
Thank you for the info, always educational.
Best,
Abi
Dave,
How did you find this? Thank you. It really is cool and I can see so much can be done, if you’re creative with it. Hmm, it makes me think of all the possibilities.
Can this be added to websites? I assume yes, but thought I’d ask anyway.
Regards,
Rachael Miller
Oh, Dave, excuse my early morning silly question above. Guess I need more Omega-3. LOL!! Rachael
This is cool! It will draw out creativity. Nice find.
Wow – That’s the source/link I was looking for…
Thank you – Thank you – Thank you
Dave, thanks for this tip. It looks like fun! I wonder if their terms of service prohibit downloading or screen capturing a video — or if it’s possible to embed an animated creation like people do with YouTube and Vimeo hosted videos on web sites.
Dave this is a brilliant site, thanks. Could you tell me whether you can use captions in Sony Vegas like the cartoon characters captions where you can add written comment?
Sorry Dave I meant to write in my comment ‘speech bubbles’. Any way to do this in Sony Vegas?
@Pemo – You’d need to create a bubble graphic outside of Vegas, then bring it into Vegas, add it and text during editing.
That was fun… I went and made my first cartoon
Happy Content Creation Time!
