Ever wanted to make a video where both you and a twin version of yourself appear in the same clip…even talking with each other? While the effect is easy to achieve, it’s not always easy to achieve convincingly. In this video, I show you how to make clips with twins of yourself, while avoiding some of the common headaches most people run into.

That was phenomenal !
You never fail to amaze me as to what
is possible with video. The only email
I look forward to.
If you ever do a live training ..
count me in.
Dave,
Great Job with such a short tutorial. Can you demonstrate how this is can be done on a mac as well?
@Gee – The process is identical on a Mac…except for applying the mask filter.
To apply the mask filter on a Mac, select the top clip in the timeline then choose Effects > Video Filter > Matte > Mask Shape.
Then open the clip in the viewer and select the Filter tab. There you can adjust the positioning of the mask.
I demonstrate the same mask filter effect for Mac user’s in my “how to blur a face” video, which is here:

@Gee – I forgot to mention, the above instructions are for Final Cut.
Thanks Dave :>)
Excellent tips, Dave. Thank you.
I’m glad to see there’s a way to feather out the
.
“seam”.
Now, it’s just a multiple personality little problem
and we’re ready to go

Dave,
You might have covered this in another post but can you tell us where you purchased your backgrounds and h0w far away are you from it and the lights and camera in front of you?
Also what camera are you using that get’s such great web quality?
Dave,
I never figured you’d take my question and turn it into a full fledged “how to” video. Your explanation allowed me to create my own twin video within about 60 seconds.
Thank you so much for doing this. I can see that it’s very easy to do yet having a full dialog where Person A talks then Person B and back and forth would be very difficult.
But it’s simple enough to just put stuff to music! Thank you very much.
Very nice video article.
Again, Thank you,
Tom
Dave: What version of Vegas Pro are you using?
Can Vegas Pro 7 do the 3D compositing and does
it have the titling editor ?
thanks
@Vic – I use both Vegas Pro 8 and Vegas Pro 9.
I believe 7 does 3D composting, etc. but that version is over 3 years old, I no longer have a copy and can’t remember for sure.
If I upgrade … will Vegas 8 or 9 import all my Vegas 7 projects? thanks dave .. ya gotta throw a live event one day … if it’s possible to demonstrate much of this material live.
@Vic – Yes, but once a 7 project is loaded in 8 or 9, it can no longer be used in 7.
how do i get to dat site to do the twin thing?
I love that background you use in this
video. Is it the same black background you
use in your other videos with maybe a
cookielorus (spell?) cut like blinds with
a red shaft of light coming through it?
very simple, yet very elegant.
I think, maybe a expensive canvas background. I see one you use in different video
