WVU #49 – LiveStream Procaster – How To Stream Live Video Of Yourself And Your Screen At The Same Time
LiveStream is a free, live video streaming service (much like Ustream.TV). However, they offer unique (and free) software called Procaster that allows you to elegantly switch between live camera shots of your self…and shots of what you are doing on your screen.
In this video I give a demonstration of LiveStream Procaster. In fact, the entire video was shot using it.

Another Great tip Dave Thanks!!!
Noticed that there was a lag with your audio to video e.g. lips not in sync with voice.
Is this something to do with the recording??
michael
@Michael,
Right at the beginning of the video I have a text overlay on the screen explaining why the audio and video are out of synch.
It’s because the video is a recording of me using the service live. Nearly all live streaming video has latency (audio/video mismatch).
Very neat. What did you do, to hook up the video to the PC, so you can record the external video feed? I assume you can use a webcam or a full blown video camera?
@Phil – The software automatically detects any cameras attached to your computer, i.e. webcam via USB or DV camera via Firewire. If you have multiple cameras attached, you can choose between them.
Dave,
Thanks again for another great tip. I am assuming you have the “Pro” version of procaster (almost wrote procrastinator) because there are no ads in your video. Did I misunderstand that. Does the downloaded version of the software then embed ads when your video is ready? or is that only if you record to livestream? I may be totally ignorant here so I apologize.
Thanks again
Terrie
@ Terrie – I was using the free version. It gives you the ability to save the video to your computer, which I did. People only see ad’s if they are watching your video on the LiveStream web site.
Thank u for this tips, it will help me very much.
Greetings!
