Many newer video cameras use SDHC (Flash) memory cards. But when shooting video, there are specific cards you need and it can get confusing. Plus, how do you get your video off of these cards? I cover what you need to know in this video.

Hi Dave!
Cool hat!!
Thanks for the tips on these small fellows… You said “Don’t delete the files with your explore”
But you forgot to give the solution to how then?!
My guess is: With the software that comes with your camera?
And before that… check that the files your copied to your harddrive are 10-4
Have a nice weekend and accept my happy new year wishes

I love your university – So much good info and teacking – it’s a goldmine
@Biz Doktor – It’s best to use the camera’s menu functions to delete files off the camera
Dave .. I love the resolution of your Canon .. And I love the
outdoor shots you do …they just pull you in … especially
this one and a previous video with the forest and the
downturned tree in the background …
The thing that keeps me from buying one of these cameras
is that I have a Sony FX 1 and a Canon HV20 ….
1000 bucks is a 1000 bucks …. and .. should I get
this camera .. with it’s superb resolution, small size …
convenience … or pick up a Focus Enhancements FS-5
external hard drive recorder for the Sony FX-1 ….
Because I do love the soft focus effect with a long
lens … but I must say … your videos are impressive ..
It would be great to have a comparison … the video
above and one taken with a longer lens and the
background out of focus ……
I know you used to use your pro sumer Canon in
earlier videos … But in the meantime, you’re the only’
inspirational video teacher on the internet I’ve found …
that backs up what he preaches by producing a fine product …
Thanks … I truly appreciate these little clips.
@John – Technically, the Sony should give you better looking video all-around, as well as handling low-light better. But of course it won’t be as quick/convenient as an HF S10/11, at least in setting up and breaking down, as the FX1 + FS-5.
You can achieve film-like depth of field with Vixia’s (or any other video camera) with 35mm lens adapters…like from Letus:

When it comes to adapters, you can find some good solutions at jag35.com as well… for low-budget videographers.

Dave awesome as usual, quick question, I am doing a website that has long videos, but I also want to record in HD or larger screen sizes so the videos are much clearer. With the audience that I have they dont really care but I care. The website is taking off like crazy 30,000 visitors in one month, so I want to start focusing on a more professional video source. Right now I just use a run of the mill Sony dcr sr45 and the quality is really just starting to get on my nerves. The autofocus is all shaky from a distance.
I am going to go look at hf s10’s today and decide whether or not I will need that. The only problem is my upload source only allow 1gb of data transfer and my videos can be up to 1 hour long.
if you get a chance head over to http://gogivetraining.com and check it out…let me know what you recommend.
Also I want to get 2 camera’s for different angles….
PS. I am thinking about buying your Online Classes as well. You are great at what you do and relay the message wonderfully!

one more thing the canon hv 40 ….I noticed the quality is similar but the price is alot cheaper! Even though the hv40 uses a tape, it still transfers to the computer the same way right?
Should i eat the extra 400 and get the hf s10? for the Flash purposes
Thank you!
Dave I love your website, I see you changed it from the old one, I think this is great, good choice.
thanks
Michael.
Good luck with the snow Dave… London shuts down after 4 snow flakes, from the look of the video, you’ve got much more than that!
