Let’s say you have a video or a series of videos and you want to charge people to access them online. How exactly do you go about this and what are your options? I provide the answers in this video.

Dave:
This is one of the most informative videos you’ve
produced (well … that’s a lie … I’ve learned more shortcuts
to success from your vids than my years as a former photographer)
One thing … Is this a new blog template.
Love the layout … I know you recommended one in the
past … I don’t know if this is it …..
Again Dave … I like the tip regarding Amazon.
John
Dave,
Thank you for opening my eyes to new ways to market video content. Why Amazon doesn’t promote createspace a little better is a mystery to me.
Off topic question, but I assume you’re using camtasia for your graphics?
As usual, great tips without the fluff!
Joe
@Joe – The video was recorded with Camtasia and edited in Sony Vegas. The graphics/slides were created in Keynote, which is like PowerPoint on a Mac.
I prefer your webvideo university method any day! Must admit as a set and forget the amazon did look good.
Dave,
I’ve looked through many of your
videos. A treasure trove of information here.
I have many of my short biz videos which
were converted a while back into .flv
(flash format) by a guy I had hired
(he’s gone now and I have to now learn on my own).
My question: does any of the programs which
you recommend (Vegas, Final Cut) import
flash video clips?
Is there a program you
would recommend? The Freebie programs
just don’t cut it. Thank you Dave.
@Gadabout – Video editing software won’t accept FLV files as it’s not an editing format…so you’ll need software to convert to an acceptable format, like AVI, MPG, MOV, etc.
I couldn’t recommend a specific software title to do this though, as they are all pretty much the same…developed by individuals rather than trusted companies.
In Adobe Premiere CS4 and CS5, you can edit FLV files naively. (FYI)
In Adobe Premiere CS4 and CS5, you can edit FLV files natively. (FYI)
To convert videos to flash. I use FFMPEG. It can take mp4, mov, and a bunch of others and convert it to bunches of others. I can set the bitrate, video dimensions, framerate and more. That’s about all I use it for, but there are lots of other options and functions it can do. It’s shareware, but I use it so much and it works so well for me, I paid the $15 or 20. www. FFMPEGX.com
I also use MPEG Streamclip. It does a bit of conversion, and it won’t open Flash, but I use it mostly for grabbing frame from a video for a placeholder. This, too, is shareware and I paid for it as well. http://www.squared5.com
I’ve been using both of these for over two years. They don’t do much in the way of upgrades, but when it works…
