Tubemogul Destinations – What You Need To Know – WVU #81
Last week Tubemogul introduced a service called Destinations, which promised that you could give them any video, they would convert it so it’s web ready and then distribute that video anywhere you want…at no cost. But there’s been some misinformation passed around about Tubemogul Destinations and it turns out their “from anywhere to anywhere” video distribution claim isn’t entirely true. So here are the facts you need to know about how this new service works.

great video share Dave.
Can you tell us a little about BitGravity ?
I see it at the top of your website.
Thanks as always.
@Gadabout – BitGravity is who I use to host/deliver my videos. They are a CDN (content delivery network) built from the ground up to deliver high-quality video. Vimeo.com also uses them to deliver all of their videos. There are some technical differences between them and other video delivery services (like Amazon S3), with the bottom line being viewers have fewer issues. They are not “self-serve” like S3 though. You can click on the “powered by” image above the video to learn more.
Thanks Dave,
That clears up a bunch of stuff. Really for me and I suspect a lot of folk’s like me, the equation is very simple. (S3 support){not} = useless service. Thanks also for clarifying the bit rate issue. 5 megs is wonderful quality…. but not for the web. I will sit this dance out til they make those changes. Thanks again for all you do.

Is Tube Mogul an equivalent service to Traffic Geyser?
@John Herman – Yes and no. Yes as in they both syndicate your videos to multiple sites. No as in Tubemogul is free and Traffic Geyser is not. And no as in Traffic Geyser provides additional tools as well.
Hi Dave,
As usual straight to the point with no “fluff”. A question that is not on topic but, can you please tell me the name of the Powerpoint template that you used for this video.
I´ve seen it a lot just lately and I really want it for my own presentations !
Thanks in advance
Paul
@Paull Hamilton – That’s not Powerpoint…it’s from Keynote…which is the Powerpoint equivalent on a Mac.
Get Video! can you make the Next Video on the topic of TubeMogel Vs. TrafficGeyser? that would be Awesome!
Thanks Dave!
Dave,
Thank you. Your videos are always helpful. I just figured I could use TubeMogel’s Destinations and send the output to my site. Then turn around and use the S3 plug-in to send that to Amazon S3. It still saves me the encoding process locally which is one of the Pros.
Well up to your normal high standard Dave! Today I read your post on the effect of the recent eruptions and video conferencing usage. That triggered some braincells.
Thanks Dave, your video’s are always very helpful…you do a terrific job explaining things from a perspective that the individual service providers do not. Again, I look forward to your tips. I have over 300 unopened emails today and I always open yours as one of the first. Jim
Re: Tube Mogul, how do you promote an affiliate program with them? One of the restrictions are NO AFFILIATES.
Joseph
@Joseph – You’d need to use a paid service like Traffic Geyser. Tubemogul frowns on the affiliate marketing world because of the large amount of spam-type videos they produce.
Dave, I am simply going to take a minute to express my gratitude for your content. Well done.
Thanks Dave,
The video is now some outdated but the concept the same. Now you can also select the s3
@Artur – I covered the updates to Destinations, last year, in this video:
