{"id":1197,"date":"2010-04-14T08:21:18","date_gmt":"2010-04-14T12:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/?p=1197"},"modified":"2010-04-14T08:21:18","modified_gmt":"2010-04-14T12:21:18","slug":"sony-releases-update-for-vegas-pro-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/14\/sony-releases-update-for-vegas-pro-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony Releases Update For Vegas Pro 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Usually when companies release software updates they do it to fix bugs. \u00a0However, Sony&#8217;s latest update to Vegas Pro 9 (update D) not only fixes bugs, but adds a few nice features too.<\/p>\n<p>First the bug fixes. \u00a0There are many of them, but most notable is improved support for importing MP4 files. \u00a0Many Flip-style cameras shoot video in the MP4 format and Vegas, in the past, has had issues importing the audio or video from some of them. \u00a0With update D, many of these issues appear to be fixed. \u00a0To see a full list of the bug fixes <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sony-250.vo.llnwd.net\/dspcdn\/releasenotes\/vegaspro90d_readme_enu.htm\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Vegas Pro 9.d has also added several entirely new features. \u00a0Of them, 3 jump out the most (to me). \u00a0First is a separate white balance filter. \u00a0With this new filter (available under the Video FX tab), you simple click on an area of your video that should be white and Vegas automatically color corrects your video for you. \u00a0It&#8217;s not always perfect, but it comes close, and you can always fine-tune things further. \u00a0In short, it&#8217;s a big time-saver.<\/p>\n<p>Next is support for closed-captioning. \u00a0Now you can add closed-captions (think subtitles) directly into the Vegas timeline. \u00a0And finally, you can add multiple layer PSD (Photoshop) files. \u00a0While you&#8217;ve always been able to use PSD files in Vegas, with this new feature you can add each layer of a PSD file on a separate track in Vegas&#8230;allowing you to keyframe the layers individually (just like you can do in After Effects).<\/p>\n<p>The Vegas Pro 9.d update is free to existing Vegas Pro 9 users. \u00a0You can <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonycreativesoftware.com\/download\/updates\/vegaspro\" target=\"_blank\">get the update here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Usually when companies release software updates they do it to fix bugs. \u00a0However, Sony&#8217;s latest update to Vegas Pro 9 (update D) not only fixes bugs, but adds a few nice features too.
