{"id":139,"date":"2008-11-17T11:31:41","date_gmt":"2008-11-17T15:31:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/?p=139"},"modified":"2008-11-17T11:31:41","modified_gmt":"2008-11-17T15:31:41","slug":"youtube-sponsored-videos-adwords-like-advertising-comes-to-youtube","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/17\/youtube-sponsored-videos-adwords-like-advertising-comes-to-youtube\/","title":{"rendered":"YouTube Sponsored Videos: Adwords-Like Advertising Comes To YouTube"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, YouTube (and Google) announced the introduction of a new marketing service on YouTube&#8230;called <strong>YouTube Sponsored Videos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>What is it?<\/p>\n<p>Well, it&#8217;s a lot like <strong>Adwords<\/strong> for video.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s how it works:<\/p>\n<p>You produce a video that promotes your product or service.\u00a0 You go to <strong>YouTube Sponsored Videos<\/strong> and bid on keywords.\u00a0 When someone on YouTube does a search based on those keywords, a thumbnail link to your video will appear in the right sidebar of the page, under a section labeled &#8220;Sponsored Videos&#8221;.\u00a0 If they click on your video thumbnail, you get charged.<\/p>\n<p>I told you&#8230;it&#8217;s a lot like Adwords.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But here&#8217;s the big difference in terms of marketing<\/strong>.\u00a0 When someone clicks-through to your video, they still have to watch your video and be compelled by it enough to actually go to your web site.\u00a0 In other words, if someone clicks-through, watches your video (or part of it) and then goes away&#8230;well, you&#8217;ve gained nothing.<\/p>\n<p>So producing compelling videos that get people to take action will be critical for anyone using <strong>YouTube Sponsored Videos<\/strong> (as a shameless side note, this is exactly what I teach people how to do in my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webvideouniversity.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Secrets of Creating Web Videos That Sell<\/strong><\/a> course).<\/p>\n<p>However, unlike Adwords, with YouTube Sponsored Videos you don&#8217;t have to worry about quality scores and landing pages (yet).\u00a0 YouTube Sponsored Videos is so new that it&#8217;s wide-open for everyone.\u00a0 If you remember Adwords back in 2003, well, it&#8217;s kind of like that.\u00a0 <strong>That&#8217;s another way of saying that this new service is a potential goldmine for fast-acting and savvy Internet marketers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To see how sponsored videos work, just go out to YouTube and type in a very competitive keyword&#8230;say &#8220;diet&#8221;.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll see sponsored videos appear in the right sidebar of the results.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more&#8230;and even sign-up for <strong>YouTube Sponsored Videos<\/strong>&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/ads.youtube.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>just click here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, YouTube (and Google) announced the introduction of a new marketing service on YouTube&#8230;called YouTube Sponsored Videos.
