{"id":304,"date":"2009-04-29T09:32:15","date_gmt":"2009-04-29T13:32:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/?p=304"},"modified":"2009-04-29T09:32:15","modified_gmt":"2009-04-29T13:32:15","slug":"toshiba-introduces-qosmio-laptop-that-makes-web-video-look-better","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/2009\/04\/29\/toshiba-introduces-qosmio-laptop-that-makes-web-video-look-better\/","title":{"rendered":"Toshiba Introduces Qosmio Laptop That Makes Web Video Look Better"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week Toshiba introduced a new <strong>Qosmio<\/strong> laptop that contains a secondary video processing chip and special software designed to make fuzzy web video look better.<\/p>\n<p>It all gets controlled through a plugin for Internet Explorer that automatically detects Flash video&#8230;then cleans up that video during playback.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ComputerWorld<\/strong> tested the laptop with videos from YouTube and reports &#8220;Edges are sharper, colors are a little richer and brightness and contrast are adjusted so that black areas of screen appear black and not grey&#8230;almost as if a layer of something that had been making the video look slightly dull and fuzzy had been removed&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>They also report that the most noticeable improvements occur in videos that are already decent quality, as opposed to videos that are outright bad.<\/p>\n<p>But don&#8217;t run out and look for the new <strong>Toshiba Qosmio<\/strong> laptop at Best Buy.\u00a0 You won&#8217;t find it.\u00a0 Right now it&#8217;s only available in Japan and has a list price of $3,420.\u00a0 But this same technology should start to trickle into the U.S. soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week Toshiba introduced a new Qosmio laptop that contains a secondary video processing chip and special software designed to make fuzzy web video look better.
