{"id":32,"date":"2008-07-10T19:04:11","date_gmt":"2008-07-10T23:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/?p=32"},"modified":"2008-07-10T23:28:25","modified_gmt":"2008-07-11T03:28:25","slug":"shopflick-like-ebay-but-all-100-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/10\/shopflick-like-ebay-but-all-100-video\/","title":{"rendered":"ShopFlick &#8211; Like eBay But All 100% Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Picture this.\u00a0 You have&#8230;or want&#8230;to start an online business selling radio controlled cars.\u00a0 Or t-shirts.\u00a0 Or clothes you design.\u00a0 Or surfboards.\u00a0 Or&#8230;whatever.\u00a0 You get the picture.<\/p>\n<p>You could start a web site or get listed on Amazon or do the eBay thing.\u00a0 But what if instead, you could produce a video for your product.\u00a0 And this video would be seen by people looking to buy products like yours.\u00a0 And instead of people being swayed by price, their decision to buy from you was based on the quality of your video.\u00a0 And what if all of this were free?<\/p>\n<p>Enter a new web site called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shopflick.com\" target=\"_blank\">ShopFlick<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ShopFlick is a storefront, like Amazon, but rather than having a billion name-brand products, they feature products created and sold by small business owners.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s all 100% video based.\u00a0 That means your product isn&#8217;t sold with text or pictures, but rather, it&#8217;s sold based on the video you create to market your product.<\/p>\n<p>To the shopper, it looks like this.\u00a0 They go the ShopFlick.\u00a0 They do a search or browse through categories.\u00a0 When they find a product they&#8217;re looking for, they watch the video a product maker has put together and decide to buy or not from there.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a little like Amazon and eBay combined.\u00a0 But there&#8217;s no bidding.\u00a0 And listing your product, at least for now, is free (ShopFlick plans to charge a $10-$20 monthly listing fee in the future).\u00a0 ShopFlick also charges a transaction fee for every item you sell&#8230;about 12.5%.\u00a0 Not great, but not too bad either.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see how ShopFlick does (they recently received $7 million in funding).\u00a0 I hope they do well.\u00a0 It will be a terrific way for small business owners to promote their products.\u00a0 And&#8230;since products are featured using only videos&#8230;it will also be a terrific way for video producers to find an endless stream of clients.<\/p>\n<p>In case you missed the link to ShopFlick at the top of this post, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shopflick.com\" target=\"_blank\">here it is again<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Picture this.\u00a0 You have&#8230;or want&#8230;to start an online business selling radio controlled cars.\u00a0 Or t-shirts.\u00a0 Or clothes you design.\u00a0 Or surfboards.\u00a0 Or&#8230;whatever.\u00a0 You get the picture.
