My how the Internet has evolved.<\/p>\n
First it was dial-up on Compuserve and AOL.\u00a0 Now it’s broadband.\u00a0 First it was email.\u00a0 Now it’s Facebook, video and Twitter.<\/p>\n
Speaking of Twitter, there’s a winery in California that wants to pay someone $10,000 a month to tweet about wine.\u00a0 They call it the “Really Goode Job<\/strong>” (they put the “E” on Good because “Goode” is in the name of the winery).<\/p>\n This no doubt is a copycat style promotion, based off the famous “Best Job In The World<\/strong>” formula.\u00a0 But it goes to show you just how powerful social media (i.e. new media) has become as a marketing tool.\u00a0 People are generating millions of dollars worth of free publicity (not to mention profits) by totally bypassing traditional media.<\/p>\n If you want further proof, ask the Chinese government who are currently banning both Twitter and YouTube in China<\/strong><\/a>, due to the Tiananmen Square anniversary.\u00a0 Or American newspapers, who are holding on by a thread…and even Warren Buffet says he wouldn’t invest a nickel in them<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n But back to making $10,000 a month tweeting about wine.\u00a0 I don’t drink, so I’m neither qualified or interested in the job.<\/p>\n However, if you are, you can read more about it in this LA Times article<\/strong><\/a>…and even apply for the job here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" My how the Internet has evolved.
