{"id":395,"date":"2009-08-12T11:10:47","date_gmt":"2009-08-12T15:10:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/?p=395"},"modified":"2009-08-12T11:12:44","modified_gmt":"2009-08-12T15:12:44","slug":"memeo-send-a-new-way-to-send-large-files-on-the-internet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/12\/memeo-send-a-new-way-to-send-large-files-on-the-internet\/","title":{"rendered":"Memeo Send: A New Way To Send Large Files On The Internet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the proliferation of rich media on the web these days, it&#8217;s not uncommon to find yourself needing to send large files to co-workers, clients or friends.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s a series of high-resolution photos.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s a video clip.\u00a0 Or maybe it&#8217;s a database or just a really big collection of files.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the case, large files (typically anything over 10MB) cannot be sent via email.\u00a0 And even if you can send them through your ISP, there&#8217;s no guarantee that the person on the other end can receive files that large through their ISP.<\/p>\n<p>The solultion is to use a service that bypasses email and allows you to send large files by uploading them to a secure web site.\u00a0 There are many players in this market&#8230;some free and some not.\u00a0 Personally, I&#8217;ve used the paid-for service <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yousendit.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>YouSendIt<\/strong><\/a> for quite a while&#8230;and with zero problems.<\/p>\n<p>However, a new service has entered this market with some interesting twists.\u00a0 The service is called <strong>Memeo Send<\/strong> and they position themselves as the &#8220;UPS&#8221; of Internet file delivery.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, in their user interface, they visually track the progress of large files you send much like a real package is tracked.<\/p>\n<p>But most interesting to me is that <strong>Memeo Send<\/strong> is a pay-as-you-go service.\u00a0 In other words, you only pay for what you use.\u00a0 You purchase a block of credits and then those credits are used on a &#8220;per file sent&#8221; basis.<\/p>\n<p>This differs from nearly all other paid-for services (like YouSendIt) where you pay a set monthly fee.\u00a0 That means even if you don&#8217;t send a file during the month, you still get charged the full monthly fee.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t had the opportunity to test Memeo Send yet, but I plan to.\u00a0 And if it&#8217;s fast, reliable and works as advertised, I&#8217;ll definitely make the switch to it (and update this post with the results).<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime however, if you&#8217;d like to check out <strong>Memeo Send<\/strong> for yourself, just <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memeo.com\/business\/send.php\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>click here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the proliferation of rich media on the web these days, it&#8217;s not uncommon to find yourself needing to send large files to co-workers, clients or friends.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s a series of high-resolution photos.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s a video clip.\u00a0 Or maybe it&#8217;s a database or just a really big collection of files.
