{"id":414,"date":"2009-08-24T10:49:51","date_gmt":"2009-08-24T14:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/?p=414"},"modified":"2009-08-24T10:49:51","modified_gmt":"2009-08-24T14:49:51","slug":"how-video-is-being-added-to-magazines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/24\/how-video-is-being-added-to-magazines\/","title":{"rendered":"How Video Is Being Added To Magazines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week CBS made some noise by announcing they would be running video ad&#8217;s for their upcoming fall season in <em>Entertainment Weekly<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n<p>But how exactly does it work?<\/p>\n<p>When a reader flips to the ad page in the magazine, a small, paper thin 2.5 inch video screen will start playing a video with a brief tutorial on how to use a player.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/blog_magvid2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"397\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From there, viewers will be able to push buttons on the page and see a montage of different TV shows.<\/p>\n<p>The technology to do this has actually been around for quite a while.\u00a0 The challenge however, was to incorporate it into a large scale printing and binding process, without the components being damaged.<\/p>\n<p>And then there&#8217;s the cost.\u00a0 It&#8217;s estimated that each player put in a magazine costs somewhere between $10 and $20.\u00a0 Definately not cheap, which is why magazines with the player will only be distributed in New York and L.A.<\/p>\n<p>If the campaign turns out to be successful though, expect video to magazine advertising to quickly become more commonplace (and affordable).<\/p>\n<p><em>(image credit to <a href=\"http:\/\/adage.com\/mediaworks\/article?article_id=138546\" target=\"_blank\">AdAge<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week CBS made some noise by announcing they would be running video ad&#8217;s for their upcoming fall season in Entertainment Weekly magazine.
