{"id":771,"date":"2009-12-14T09:20:34","date_gmt":"2009-12-14T13:20:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/?p=771"},"modified":"2009-12-14T09:20:34","modified_gmt":"2009-12-14T13:20:34","slug":"81-of-viewers-bolt-when-videos-buffer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webvideouniversity.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/14\/81-of-viewers-bolt-when-videos-buffer\/","title":{"rendered":"81% of Viewers Bolt When Videos Buffer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new study by TubeMogul reports that 81% of viewers will leave a web page when a video buffers.<\/p>\n<p>TubeMogul conducted the study by sampling 192 video streams from the biggest CDN&#8217;s (CDN stands for <em>content delivery network<\/em>&#8230;which are used to deliver much of the video you see on the web).\u00a0 Of the CDN&#8217;s they tested, Limelight performed best, followed by Panther Networks, Akamai, Edgecast and BitGravity.<\/p>\n<p>While the 81% is eye-opening, on a happier note, only 7% of the videos they tested actually buffered to begin with.<\/p>\n<p>I would take these numbers with a grain of salt though as YouTube remains the king of video&#8230;yet their videos are notorious for buffering problems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new study by TubeMogul reports that 81% of viewers will leave a web page when a video buffers.
