Speed Read Through Web Videos…Or Slow Them Down For Note Taking…With MySpeed

If you’ve ever wished that you could quickly and accurately skim through a web video, much like you do a book…or slow down a web video to better learn a difficult task…now you can with a new product released earlier this month called MySpeed from Enounce.

It’s a Windows based application (no Mac version available at this time) that you simply install on your PC.  Then, when visiting any web site that plays Flash-based videos (like YouTube), you can move a slider bar left or right to speed up or slow down the video.

Aside from fast-forwarding through pre-roll video ads, MySpeed is most useful for educational videos, say lectures or demonstrations, where you want to quickly skip through parts of a video or slow things down to better understand certain segments.  The slow down feature is also useful if you are transcribing videos.

You can see a demo of MySpeed and download a free trial by clicking here.

Fully licensed versions of the software run from $29 to $99.

  1. Hey Dave,

    Yeah, Enounce is great!

I have been using it for about 1 year,
so it has been around for more than a year.

It can be a little buggy at times, and
sometimes the slider bar likes to totally
disappear, but it works like a charm most
    of the time…

I use MySpeed extensively when watching all
your training videos in your WebVideoTraining
    monthly membership site…

Dave, you have soooo muuuch video content
on that Super-Site that at regular speed
    I wouldn’t get through it all until 2011… :-)

    I use 2x to 2.4x speed-up, usually.

Only the music tracks don’t sound good at
that speed, but voice audio sounds fast and fine!

Great site, and you are a Great Teacher!

  2. A Mac version of Enounce MySpeed is now available. It has all the features of the Windows version — speed up to save time, slow down to learn.
