Kaltura Community Edition Offers Open-Source Solution For Self-Hosting Your Videos

K

Today Kaltura released Kaltura Community Edition (CE), an open-source software solution for self-hosting your own web videos.

By self-hosting, I mean you are in total control…from start to finish.  You install Kaltura CE on your server, you can then upload your videos, have them converted, get a player to embed the videos on your site, track statistics and more.  And again, all of this is being done on your server…not somewhere else

It’s definately not something for the casual web video producer who typcially uploads their videso to sharing sites.  Rather, this is intended for people who are technically savvy enough and want to run a video-based community or who no longer want to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars a month to sites like Brightcove, Ooyala, Delve, Flix Cloud, Sorenson 360 or Fliqz.

And because Kaltura Community Edition is open-source, it’s free.  You’re free to download it, install it, use it and customize it however you’d like.  Of course free does come with a price tag; you still have to pay for your own server and bandwidth costs.
