In the next evolution of mobile video, American Greetings has introduced a new service that allows you to send video ecards to mobile phones.  Sound like something that might annoy you?  Well get used to it, because according to the British research firm Portio Research, this market will be worth around 31.5 billion dollars by the end of 2010.

As far as American Greetings goes, their mobile video ecards work like this.  First you go to their mobile video ecard site.  Next you select an ecard.  And then you enter the mobile phone number to send it to.  Click send and you’re done.  American Greetings claims it will work with nearly all major carriers.  As far as cost, they are currently offering a yearly plan for just $15.99.

Here’s one note though: The mobile video ecards displayed on American Greeting’s site are Flash, so iPhone users might be out of luck.
