Google recently acquired the video hosting service Episodic. This is interesting because Episodic is not a free video sharing service like YouTube. Rather, it’s a paid-for video hosting service used by professional video content producers, i.e. people who pay for professional service, quality and features.
Episodic competes with other paid-for video hosting services like Brightcove and Ooyala.
No word was given on what Google plans to do with Episodic, but the Episodic employees now work for Google and it’s rumored Google wants to somehow incorporate it’s newest acquisition into YouTube. Additionally, Episodic has stopped accepting new customers (at least temporarily).
