Earlier this week YouTube increased the length of video uploads to 15 minutes, up from the previous limit of 10 minutes. YouTube stated this was the most requested feature from users.
YouTube had planned on providing this length increase earlier, but they were tied up with other projects. That’s what happens when 24 hours worth of videos are uploaded to your site every minute. And just three years ago it was only 6 hours every minute.
Here’s the funny part though. The average viewer only watches a video on YouTube for 2 minutes before they bolt. Which means someone taking advantage of the new 15 minute feature will likely have the final 13 minutes of their video go unwatched.
