Panasonic has officially released their newest video camera, the AG-AF100. What’s unique about this camera is that it gives you the ability to achieve the video quality found in DSLR cameras, while also giving you the functionality of a standard video camera.
The Panasonic AG-AF100 uses a Micro Four Thirds sensor and interchangeable lenses to achieve 35mm film-like quality (and depth of field) for your videos. But unlike DSLR cameras, it records to the AVCHD format and offers two XLR audio inputs for professional audio recording.
The camcorder records at 60i, 50i, 30P, 25P and 24P on the 1080 side and 60p, 50p, 30p, 25p and 24p on the 720 side. Since it does record as AVCHD, the highest bit rate for recording is 24Mbps.
But on the downside, there’s the price: $4,995. Full details are available from Panasonic’s web site here.
