NFL Teams Consider Replacing Playbooks with iPads

N

Super Bowl Sunday is about to hit in the United States and somehow iPad’s are generating news because of it.  It seems several teams in the NFL are exploring the possibility of pitching their thick playbooks in favor of sleek iPads.

Actually, NFL players have long hated the thick playbooks they must carry around.  Brett Favre even once joked that you could hide a few hundred dollar bills inside the playbooks and players would never find them.  And coaches aren’t thrilled with the process of updating the playbooks either.

So enter the iPad (and other competing devices).  Some NFL teams think switching to them would be a no-brainer.  Except they have major security concerns.  They’re afraid tech-savvy types will steal their data.  So reportedly, at this point, that’s the major hold-up in making the change.

But sooner or later the switch will happen.  And while watching a game on TV, you’ll see coaches and players swiping through a tablet device instead of holding and flipping through thick binders.  Cool.
