The iPad and iPad 2 allow you to record your voice in a variety of ways…from creating podcasts, to playing in Garageband, to making Skype calls. But what you if want higher quality audio than you can get with the built-in microphone? Well, now there’s a new USB microphone…the Samson Meteor…that fits the bill.
The Samson Meteor is a USB condenser mic that offers high-quality audio and a small footprint. It also offers a built-in headphone jack…very useful for Skype calls or when you like to keep things silent around you. But most importantly, it works with the iPad.
Most USB mics require a powered USB hub/port. The iPad doesn’t have one and the Samson Meteor doesn’t need one. Instead, by using the Apple USB connector for the iPad (the camera connection kit), you can simply plug the Samson Meteor into the connector and boom…you’ve got a high-quality microphone for your iPad. Plus, you can always plug it into your regular computer too for high-quality recordings on your PC or Mac.
The Samson Meteor is now available for $99. More details are available from Samson’s web site, here.
