3 Terrific (and free) Sites For Web Video Producers

3

While going through and cleaning up my huge list of bookmarked sites, I re-discovered 3 gems that had fallen off my radar.  Sites that can help anyone do a few of the things they’d like to do with video (but weren’t sure how) and do them for free.

First up is Drop.io.  This service allows you to send large files (up to 100MB) for free.  But it does more than that.  It also allows collaboration for these files.  And in the case of video, a person can not only download the file you send them, but they can watch it in their browser too (or even embed it if they want).  In short, it does more than most “paid-for” file transfer services, for free.

Next we have Livecage.  This is a live streaming service along the lines of ustream.tv, justin.tv and so on.  However this one has a twist.  It also allows you to do live video or audio conferences with up to 10 people…for free.

And finally we have Qik.  This is a live streaming service too.  But it’s specifically for smartphones…meaning it allows you to stream live video from your smartphone (including iPhones, Blackberries and Androids).  And the quality is surprisingly…not bad.  It can also be pretty useful, depending upon what you’d like to stream.

  • Hey Dave,

Don’t know if you have heard of, but tokbox.com also can also be useful.

Thanks again for all the great posts.
