New Flip Cameras To Include Wireless Mics and Mini Projectors

N

Cisco, the maker of the popular Flip video cameras, has announced a new line of  Flip cameras due in October, called the UltraHD 2 Hour and MinoHD 2 Hour.  The most notable feature of these cameras will be a new FlipPort, which allows you to accessorize the cameras with a variety of add-ons.

The FlipPort is proprietary to Flip cameras, meaning if you buy an additional accessory, you’ll only be able to use it with Flip cameras.  These accessories include a Scosche wireless microphone,  a tiny iGo pico projector and a TV dock.  A magnetically attachable Bower wide angle lens is also available with no FlipPort required.

The new Flips will also offer better image stabilization and better image quality by recording at 60fps progressive.  The newest models with the FlipPorts won’t be available until sometime in October, with the priciest model costing $200.  All future models going forward will include the FlipPort too.

  • very cool! That little projector is really neat… Do you think that the image quality will be much better than the Flip camera you reviewed earlier this year?
