Canon DSLR cameras can shoot fantastic video. But they do have some annoying limitations. The most notable is on the audio side, where the camera’s use “automatic gain control”, which for the average person means the audio can have unwanted background noise. But there is a hack available that gives you manual control over the audio settings, as well as a variety of other things.
It’s called Magic Lantern Firmware. And the video below explains more:
[simple_video]If you’d like to try Magic Lantern Firmware with your Canon DSLR (or see if it works with your model), you can go to their site here.
Very informative. We just purchased a Canon 7D. Does it already have the fix?
I also just received a webcam from Ebay. For $15.99 including shipping, the quality is amazing for capturing video. I’ll avoid a direct link, but search on EBay “20.0 Mega 20.0M 6 LED 180F/S USB PC Laptop Webcam+Mic”. It even has six bright LED’s and a built-in microphone. I think it’s HD…very clear on “full screen” and no chopiness in live capture. It’s on a bendable stalk that can suction cup to a desk. ART
