Woman Downloads 10 Billionth Apple App, Gets $10,000 Phone Call From Apple, Promptly Hangs Up On Apple

W

Gail Davis from Orpington, England recently downloaded the 10 billionth app from the Apple app store.  Actually, one of her daughters did.  It was a milestone Apple was tracking.  They called Gail to congratulate her and give her a $10,000 gift card to the app store.  But she thought it was just another telemarketing pitch and hung up on them.

Then she got to thinking about it.  Maybe it was real.  And then her daughters starting chiming in, making her doubt her decision to hang up on Apple even more.  So in a mild panic, she called Apple back.  Allegedly, the person she spoke to at Apple’s help desk was um…to put it politely…less than helpful.

But the story ends well.  Apple called Gail back a second time.  She didn’t hang up and she got  her $10,000 gift card.  And a lesson was learned by everyone; Apple doesn’t call people to pitch stuff…so if they call you, it might be a good idea to listen.
