23 year-old Joey DeFrancesco worked for over 3 years at a hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. He hated his job and his bosses hated him. So he decided to quit. On video. With a band playing in the background. His video has now become the latest YouTube sensation with almost 2 million views in one week.
While the video itself isn’t exactly spectacular, his bosses reaction is amusing. By the way, Marriott which owns the hotel chain where Joey worked wouldn’t exactly comment on the video. They said the hotel is owned by a franchisee so it’s none of their biz-wax. But expect similar videos to start pouring into YouTube:

This should be a wake up call for employers (businesses). Everything you do is transparent now. Not only is this hotel going to have a harder time recruiting employers…this may actually hurt their business.
Personally, knowing a hotel treats its employees like crap puts me off. I’d be looking for a different place to stay.
Hi Dave,
how come you don’t update your blog much like you used to?
not worth it i guess eh?
How not to impress your future employers…
As cathartic as this probably was for this dude, his video will now be forever linked with his name on Google. I wish him luck with his future career; he’s going to need it since most employers aren’t going to even give him a chance once they see this video.
My hat is off to this guy and I don’t think other employers would be too put off by it. I say hire a kid with imagination and enough back bone to stand up to bastards like the “BOSS” in the video. Just because we are in hard times, it’s no reason to dump on employees desperate for a job.
