New Instant Boot BIOS Said To Boot Windows 7 In Under 20 Seconds

If you’re like me, you turn your computer on and then walk away for several minutes while it boots up.  Windows PC’s have always seemed to take forever to boot.

Well that’s about to change.

Phoenix Technologies (the BIOS maker for many PC’s) recently previewed a new “Instant Boot BIOS” that reportedly can go take your computer from powered-on to loading the operating system in less than a second.

When paired with the soon-to-be-released Windows 7 and it’s optimized startup settings, that means PC’s can reportedly be booted up in under 20 seconds.  In tests, a Dell Adamo booted to Windows 7 in exactly 20 seconds, while a Levano T400s hit the Windows 7 desktop in 10 seconds.

But the best news is that this fast booting technology will be available to all of use soon.  Here’s a video that previews what’s in store:
