On-Demand, In-Flight Video Coming To Major Airlines

O

Aircell, which already offers in-flight WI-FI services to air travelers, has announced that later this year you’ll also be able to download videos on-demand during flights.

They way it will work is that while in-flight…and for a fee…you’ll be able to download a movie of your choice to your laptop.  After that, you’ll have 24 hours to watch the movie.  A library of movies to choose from will be listed in an iTunes-like app and it’s expected that the cost of each movie will be between $2-$4.

Aircell’s Gogo WI-FI service, which is already installed on almost 700 planes, will power the new video on-demand offering.  A video on-demand offering, that by the way, is the result of consumer requests.
