It’s not uncommon to run into a situation where you need to convert some type of file into a different format…the file might be a text document, audio file or even a video. For example, maybe you have a client who is requesting a file in a format you don’t typically support or maybe you’ve received a file in a format that you just can’t open.
While there are plenty of desktop tools available to handle conversions like these, they can be expensive. And what if you travel a lot…where your office computer has these conversion tools…but your traveling notebook computer does not?
Well, that’s where a free service at ZamZar comes in. You can just go to their web site, upload a file, tell them what you want the file convert to and they’ll do the rest. Once your file is converted and ready to go, they’ll send you an email where you can download it.
What type of file formats can you convert to and from? Well, just about everything out there…all popular image formats, document formats, audio formats, video formats and even compressed (zip) files.
And like I said, it’s all free.
So what’s the catch? Well, you’re going to get bombarded with advertisements on the site and the speed and reliability aren’t stellar. However, they do offer a paid option for those who are looking for better performance.
