Video Review: ScreenToaster Brings Free, Instant, Easy To Use Screen Recording To Everyone

V

I receive a lot of emails.  Most of them fall into the “Dave, how do I…” category.  And a lot of times I find myself explaining an answer through written words, when it would be far better to show the person the answer through a screen recording video.

Problem is, like nearly everyone, I’m pressed for time and it’s quicker to type a response, rather than to create a screen recording, render it to Flash, upload it to a server and send out a link to it.

That’s why I was intrigued by a brand new service called ScreenToaster.  It allows you to record your screen (like numerous other applications).  However, it’s 100% web based.  There’s nothing to download.  Nothing to install.  It works on Windows or Mac.  And…it’s dead-simple to use.  I mean dead-simple.

You click a button, record what you’re doing on your screen and instantly get a link to the video that you can send to people (or you can embed the video in a web page or blog).  By the way, it also happens to be free.

Yes, I realize Jing offers similar features…however, Jing requires operating specific downloads and installs to get started.  ScreenToaster is web-based…meaning you can skip all that stuff.

It’s a service I’m going to start using myself…and I think it’s something you should check out too.  In fact, below I’ve put together a video tutorial showing how simple it is to use.  And below that, I have a link to an actual video I created using ScreenToaster.
