Stickam Launches StreamAPI – Makes Live, Branded Streaming Video Cheap and Easy for Web Site Owners

S

A few months ago, I did a post about Watershed, a service that Ustream.TV had started offering, where web site owners could white label (brand) live, streaming video on their sites.

Now, one of Ustream’s competitors, Stickam, has raised the bar.

Stickam just introduced a new service called StreamAPI, which like Watershed, allows web site owners to incorporate live, streaming videos into their sites.  And like Watershed, these streams can be white labeled.

But the first big difference between Watershed and StreamAPI is the cost.  While Watershed can cost up to $1 per hour, per viewer, StreamAPI prices can be as low as 5 cents per hour.  With StreamAPI, you get to select the quality of your stream…pay more and you’ll get better quality.

For example, let’s say you want to put on a live, 2 hour streaming event.  You want it to appear on your own web site.  There are going to be 250 people watching the event.  And you want to stream it in full HD quality.  With StreamAPI, your total cost to put on this event would be around $98.  Yep, that’s it.

What’s more, StreamAPI uses a WYSIWYG, drag and drop interface.  You don’t need to know anything about Flash programming to use it.  For you, that means in just a couple minutes, you can have everthing setup and ready to broadcast.

But what if you’re “technically challenged” and still need some help with all of this?  Well, for an extra $100 a month you can get premium support, where technicians will help you every step of the way.

There is no sign-up fee for StreamAPI, no contracts and no commitments.  You pay only for what you use.

  • Jive seems to have a good grip on the Video eMail space. After reading this article, there seems to be an insatiable appetite for streaming video and with the price points coming down, even us IMers can afford to play with the big boys.

  • Hey Dave,
I am playing with stream API now. These guys are great! Tech support is wonderful and we are about to stream a live entertainment event from New York to a web site I am setting up now.
Thanks incidently for all you are doing for us newbies.
