The Next Frontier For Web Video? Your Television

T

According to a new report by In-Stat, by 2013 web video will not only become common place on our TV sets, but it will be a 3 billion dollar a year business.

Already, 40% of “younger” households are watching web video on their TV’s.  And it’s predicted that once the process becomes simpler and more convenient, the rest of the population will follow suit.  That’s an estimated jump from 7 million people right now, to over 24 million in the next 5 years.

That’s a lot of eyeballs watching web video on TV.  A lot of eyeballs that could potentially be watching your videos.

Especially when you consider that right now, the average Internet user is spending an average of 5 hours a month watching online video.  And once people are able to easily watch web video from their TV…that number should skyrocket as well.

  • Hi Dave,
My family downloads videos from ATT U-Verse on our TV, and my son plays video games with other internet gamers, but I didn’t know that I could download web video, too. How would I go about making my videos available? YouTube?

  • With the switch to digital television, I heard it is going to be possible to watch videos on demand on a station on cable or satellite tv? From web to television? Do you know if this is available and if so, how to find out more about this and how a person can create their own channel that will broadcast on the television station? Thank you.
