With the proliferation of rich media on the web these days, it’s not uncommon to find yourself needing to send large files to co-workers, clients or friends. Maybe it’s a series of high-resolution photos. Maybe it’s a video clip. Or maybe it’s a database or just a really big collection of files.
Whatever the case, large files (typically anything over 10MB) cannot be sent via email. And even if you can send them through your ISP, there’s no guarantee that the person on the other end can receive files that large through their ISP.
The solultion is to use a service that bypasses email and allows you to send large files by uploading them to a secure web site. There are many players in this market…some free and some not. Personally, I’ve used the paid-for service YouSendIt for quite a while…and with zero problems.
However, a new service has entered this market with some interesting twists. The service is called Memeo Send and they position themselves as the “UPS” of Internet file delivery.
In fact, in their user interface, they visually track the progress of large files you send much like a real package is tracked.
But most interesting to me is that Memeo Send is a pay-as-you-go service. In other words, you only pay for what you use. You purchase a block of credits and then those credits are used on a “per file sent” basis.
This differs from nearly all other paid-for services (like YouSendIt) where you pay a set monthly fee. That means even if you don’t send a file during the month, you still get charged the full monthly fee.
I haven’t had the opportunity to test Memeo Send yet, but I plan to. And if it’s fast, reliable and works as advertised, I’ll definitely make the switch to it (and update this post with the results).
In the meantime however, if you’d like to check out Memeo Send for yourself, just click here.

Dave,
Please keep us up to date on what you find out when you try Memo Send.
Thanks
Thanks Dave,
You are top notch. One of my biggest problems is moving video files around. I will definitely check this out. Does it work with cloud services such as AWS?
@Hugh – I believe most of the services like these only work by using a recipients email address…but you might want to double check with the particular service.
Dave,
I get a lot of valuable information from you and love it every time. I just want to say thanks and in a very near future I wish to join your classes to learn more about video marketing.
Kind regards
Michael.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the Memeo Send mention! We’d love for you to give it a try… did you know a recipient can begin downloading a package while it’s still uploading? I’d be happy to give you a coupon for some free deliveries–shoot me an email at marketing@memeo.com
