Sony Vegas Pro 10 Set For October 2010 Release

S

Sony Creative Software has announced that the newest version of Sony Vegas Pro (version 10) will be available on October 11, 2010.  Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new and notable:

  • Stereoscopic 3D editing, for those who want to shoot and edit 3D videos
  • Track grouping for easier project management
  • GPU accelerated encoding for users with CUDA video cards (only works with Sony AVC codec)
  • A new video plugin architecture, which should allow Vegas to accept more 3rd party plugins (like all other video editing suites)

For users who upgrade early, I would expect some bugs…just like what happened when Vegas Pro 9 was released.  A more complete list of what’s new in Vegas Pro 10 is available here.

  • Hi Dave, any word on whether their mp4 codec will be improved? It sucks right now which is why I am forced to render using Vegas 8 on my old XP machine.

  • I still want to know when or if Sony Vegas will ever support AMD Stream since not everyone has an nVidia video card….

It kind of annoys me that everywhere I look I see CUDA…leaving ATi/AMD users out. I personally dislike nVidia video cards.
