Microsoft has announced their first full HD webcam, the HD LifeCam Studio. The camera streams video from 640×480 to full HD at 1920x1080p. It features a high-precision glass lens and Microsoft’s TrueColor and ClearFrame technology. So what makes this camera stand out in a sea of other HD webcams?
Honestly, not much. Except for one thing. A tripod mount on the bottom of the camera. This will allow you to place the camera on a tripod (while still being tethered to your computer with a USB cable), rather than on the top of your monitor.
The HD LifeCam Studio will soon be available exclusively through Best Buy for $100. You can learn more on Microsoft’s site by clicking here.

Dave- I know you have the Logitech Pro 9000
Have you compared this to Logitech’s new hd webcam … the C910?
@Gary – No I haven’t, but I am using the C905 (I think it is) these days. It seems all webcams perform about the same, regardless of the marketing pitch.
Hi Dave, since this post, have you tried the Logitech HD Pro C910 and compared to the microsoft Lifecam Studio?
You made a comment that the microsoft lifecam studio doesn’t really stand out above the rest on the market. What I am looking for a is descently priced webcam to chat with family on skype, I would like true color and not alot of delay(the delay I would think would have to do with my internet speed), can you make any suggestions? I look forward to your response
@Diane – In my experience, all web cams perform about the same. So it’s really a matter of choosing one you personally like best.
when its going to launch The HD LifeCam Studio?
